Uniform Policies FOR 2018-19

The philosophy behind LAM’s school uniform policy is to encourage our students to experience a greater sense of school identity and belonging, to encourage positive student behavior, and to improve and expand academic excellence. We believe that school uniforms promote a sense of pride in our school and solidarity between students.

All students are required to wear only approved uniform options to school. If it isn’t on the list, it is not to be worn. Chapel uniforms are to be worn every Thursday and for all school field trips and performances unless permission is given otherwise.

Parents must cooperate with the school in enforcement of the uniform policy by only logoing approved uniform options and purchasing clothing items that coincide with the uniform policy.


LAM will not be responsible for items logoed without approval.

Chapel Uniforms

A chapel uniform is required for all students on Thursdays and for all school field trips and performances unless stated otherwise. Chapel uniforms may be worn to school on other days as well. Logoed Chapel items must be embroidered.


Boys and Girls: Undershirts worn on chapel day must be white & unseen. No bare legs Nov.1 - March 15.


The following Chapel items are available at Merry Mart Uniforms: Girls Douglas Plaid Jumper and Skirt, Girls Royal Blue Cardigan and Boys Royal Blue Vest.


Required Chapel Uniform for Girls

Douglas Plaid Jumper (Preschool -3rd grade) optional for 4th/5th

Douglas Plaid skirt (4th & 5th grade) allowed for 4th/5th

Cardigan Sweater – royal blue – (Logoed)

White, plain Peter Pan collar blouse – (Logoed) short or long sleeve

Socks – solid navy or solid white or solid black

Dark dress shoes – black, dark brown, or navy - no embellishments

Socks/Leggings/Tights – solid navy, solid white or solid black

(No skin may show between the legging and the sock)


Required Chapel Uniform for Boys

Pleated or flat front uniform pant or shorts

Sweater Vest – royal blue – (Logoed)

White Oxford shirt – (Logoed) Short or long sleeve

Socks – solid dark or solid white

Dark dress shoes - black, dark brown, or navy

Regular Uniforms


Polo (short and long sleeved) & turtlenecks - hunter green, navy, royal blue or white – embroidered logo. All items worn under polo shirts must be solid school uniform colors. 

Fabric must be chino type blend, Cotton/poly/rayon (such as chapel jumper/skirt material) – no stretchy t-shirt type material, cargo, corduroy or embellishments. All LAM approved items on Merry Mart and Lands’ End ok. If purchasing elsewhere, items must be approved through the LAM Office.


Navy Pants - pleated or plain front

Navy Shorts, Skirts & Skorts - uniform style


Navy Jumper - uniform style – embroidered logo

  • Skirts and jumpers must be no shorter than 1 inch above the bent knee at the back of the leg.

Bicycle Shorts - Black or navy should be worn under girl’s skirts and jumpers.


Fleece vests, fleece jackets crew neck style sweatshirts, and hooded zip-front sweatshirt (Hoods may NOT be worn indoors.) – solid colored: hunter green, navy, or royal blue – embroidered logo. Button-front cardigan sweater - solid colored: hunter green or navy blue - embroidered logo. These items may be worn inside on cold days. (Pullover hooded sweatshirts are NOT approved.)


Coats, snow pants, gloves, snow boots – may be worn outside. Snow Boots are to be worn to and from school and at recess but uniform shoes must be worn inside.


Socks, legging & tights:

Solid navy, white or black - must be plain with no ruffles or embellishments.

Leggings can only be worn with approved short socks. No skin may show between the legging and the sock.


Primarily dark shoes are required - black, dark brown, or navy - no embellishments. We encourage Velcro closures for students in Preschool, Pre-K and Bridge. Shoes can have ties, buckles or Velcro closures and need to be closed toe and closed heel. No brightly colored character, and/or light-up shoes. Shoes with laces must be tied. Indoor footwear must be below the ankle; sole/heel should be ¼” or less. Snow boots may be worn outside only.


Accessories and Jewelry:
Hair accessories - All hair accessories must be in school colors hunter green, navy, royal blue, white, as well as brown, black, silver & gold.

Belts - Belts must be worn by older students. Belts must be plain no embellishments. Black, brown or navy.

Jewelry – Girls may wear one pair of small stud earrings for pierced ears only.

Make-Up - No make-up, nail polish, or temporary tattoos are allowed.

Important reminders

  • No bare legs from November 1 through March 15th.
  • No skirts or jumpers on PE days.
  • Be sure to LABEL all uniform items that the kids “shed” throughout the day.
  • All uniform items should be checked regularly for rips, holes, stains and general appearance. Baggy or low fitting styles are not acceptable. Torn or worn out styles are not acceptable.
  • Every effort has been made to be clear; however, if an interpretation is to be made, the school administration will have the final say.
