It is a great honor and our pleasure to host Korean students during winter and summer at LAM. These students are part of Univest Education, a Christian company in South Korea that arranges short and long term overseas exchange programs with the United States. The mission of Univest has three purposes. First and foremost it is for students to learn about Christ and the Bible. Not all these students come from a Christian background and many students return home significantly impacted by the Christian atmosphere and education. Second is to give them an opportunity to experience a foreign culture and American way of life. Last, most Korean students study English and can read and write in English but never receive the opportunity to actually speak and hear the language.
Each session host families are needed to open their homes and hearts to a student. By hosting a student you satisfy the school years volunteer hour requirements and also get to take part in an amazing and life changing experience. Host family students are invited to take part in all the Korean student field trips and most ESL classes. The before/after school program is open to host family students at no charge during these event hours as well. If you are interested in becoming a host family or have questions please contact the LAM Office.
