  • Work on vocabulary development through daily discussion and development of new words.
  • Show comprehension of the material, by answering literal, interpretive, critical, and appreciative levels of questions.
  • Develop and apply phonics, comprehension, situational analysis, and study skills through 'skill station days'
  • Strengthen verbal reading skills with daily, group reading instruction
  • Be assessed with quarterly individualized assessments



  • Use the Spelling Power spelling program to receive individualized words

  • Learn to write a friendly letter, persuasive essay, a book report, poems, compare and contrast essay and a research paper

  • Learn basic Latin alphabet, pronunciation of vowels and consonant sounds

  • Understand the concepts of derivitives, English words that are derived from Latin
