LaRinda Chapin, Art Specialist (chapin@lamcda.org)

Growing up with a professional artist for a mom has given me a lifelong love of art. My degrees are in writing and in communications from Whitworth University, and my first career was in editing, graphic design and printing, which I left to become a full-time mom thirteen years ago. I have a daughter, who attends another school where I also teach history, literature, writing and art, and a son, who is new to LAM this year. My husband is self-employed doing remodeling work. When it was time for me to return to the working world, God opened doors to put me on the path of teaching. I have taught art part-time, then full-time, for the last eight years. One of my wilder ventures in education was teaching creative writing to inmates at a local prison facility, which has given me an immense appreciation for working with young people! I am excited to serve and work with the children here at LAM this year.
