Dear Parents and Friends,
It looks like winter is finally here! Please note that LAM school and extended care will be following the school closings of the Coeur d'Alene School District and Post Falls School District. If either one closes due to a snow day, LAM and LAM Extended Care will be closed. Please watch the local television stations for the school district closings. LAM will NOT be listed on any of these stations. If you miss the announcements, LAM's closings will be listed on our website's homepage. Just go to lamcda.org the morning of a possible closing.

LAM Spelling Bee
Congratulations to our winners for the 1st and 2nd grade Spelling Bees!
1st Grade:

Tie for 3rd Place-Nathan and Hailey
We will hold our 3rd, 4th and 5th spelling bees this Thursday after Chapel. The top 3 4th and 5th graders will advance to the District Bee.

A Consent Form was sent home with your students yesterday. Please be aware that an adult will need to be present and responsible for any students at Triple Play. This form must be turned in upon entering Triple Play Friday night. Forget or misplaced your form? No problem! We will have some available Friday night!
A portion of the possible proceeds from your ticket sales will go toward your Fundraising Financial Obligation. The more people you bring, the bigger your possible percentage!

LAM Food Drive
LAM collected over 350 items for our food drive! Thank you to all who donated and helped to make this drive a success!! 3rd grade collected the most items with a total of 72! What a fantastic job everyone!

Pascal Academy Information Night
Attention 4th and 5th grade parents. Please join us for an informational evening with Pascal Academy. Thursday, January 26th from 7-9pm in the Gathering Place.
Pascal Academy is a private, classical, Christian school in Post Falls, Idaho offering grades 6 - 12.

LAM Speech Meet
A Note from Mrs. Clemons:
Speech Meet - February 9
This will last all day. Your child has a speech picked out so please help him / her to memorize the speech and add the dynamics listed below.
District Speech Meet in Spokane - March 2
Two students from each division within each class will be able to participate in the District Speech Meet. Please reserve this date in case your child wins the position to advance to the next step.
Speech Guidelines
The following information has been covered with your students, but it would be helpful if you went over this information with your child too.
1. Eye contact should be with the audience, not with the judges.
2. No costumes or props of any kind are permitted.
3. Presentations are not timed.
4. All presentations must be memorized in entirety (no notes or notecards)
5. There is a 3 second waiting time between their introduction and the speech, then a 3 second waiting time before they end with "Thank you".
6. Speeches are judged on variance of voice, projection, and dynamics. Please encourage this with your child.

LAM Fundraiser~Jimmy's Down the Street
Super Bowl Sunday!!
Jimmy's Down the Street will be holding a LAM Fundraiser on Super Bowl Sunday!! February 5, 2012, 50% of the gross receipts will go to LAM! Let's get out there, enjoy some great food and support our school! Jimmy's hours are 5:30am-2:30pm.
Space Heater needed
We are in need of a space heater for our Cafe/Lunchroom. If anyone would like to donate or allow us to borrow a heater during these cold months, please let us know in the LAM office.
Deep Fryer still needed!
Would you like to help LAM out and earn volunteer hours at the same time?? Well, we are in need of your fabulous culinary skills as well as your amazing deep fryer! If you could help out we would really appreciate it! Please contact Vicky Nelson at nelson@lamcda.org or call the LAM office.
Reading is the Ticket!
It's time for Reading is the Ticket!!
We have sent home 'Reading is The Ticket" tally sheets with all students, K-5. Students need to spend at least 10 hours reading just for fun. Parents will need to initial and sign the tally sheets. (More tally sheets are available in the office as needed.)
After 10 hours of reading, turn in the completed tally sheet to your teacher by March 16th and students will receive a free ticket to SILVERWOOD THEME PARK!
Tickets will be available the middle of May.

Thrivent Choice
Lutheran Academy Of The Master has been enrolled as a participating organization in Thrivent Choice!
Thrivent Choice is a charitable grant program that allows eligible members to recommend where Thrivent Financial distributes part of its charitable outreach grant funds each year. This is a fantastic opportunity for LAM.
By participating in the Choice Dollars component of this program, eligible benefit members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans can recommend where Thrivent Financial will distribute a portion of its charitable grant funds.

LAM Science Fair
LAM Science fair will be held March 21, 2012
Information packets have been sent home for all grades 1st through 5th. We are excited about this fun event.
Dress Down Fridays for a Cause
If you haven't signed up and would like your child to participate, you may pay $1 per child for any Friday other than Arts and Science Showcase, April 20th.

Birthday Wish Certificate
See your child's name in lights!! Here is a special way to celebrate your child's special day, purchase a Birthday Wish for your student!
For $25.00, LAM will place your child's name along with 'Happy Birthday' on the electronic sign for 24 hours on the day of your choice.
Let the community know of a special day in your child's life! Please schedule your date with the LAM office. The funds generated from these certificates will also benefit the auction budget.
Prayer Requests
Please pray for LCM Church Secretary, Bonnie Stonebraker, for healing during chemotherapy.
